Lincoln Property Company Donates 130 Boxes of Books to Charities

Lincoln Property Company has collected and donated 130 boxes of books during its March book drive, in partnership with the tenants of area buildings managed by the company.

A total of 87 boxes of books were donated to Turning the Page, a nonprofit organization in Washington, D.C.  The books will be sold at Turning the Page’s annual used book sale, Carpe Librum, with proceeds used to fund programs for D.C. public school children and their families.

According to Turning the Page’s website, Carpe Librum is the city’s largest pop-up book sale, with more than 50,000 books, DVDs and CDs available this year.  The sale begins April 8 at 1030 17th St NW in Washington, D.C.  For more information, visit www.turningthepage.org

Another 43 boxes of books were donated to Books for America, which distributes books to schools, literacy programs, shelters, military bases, hospitals, and prisons in the mid-Atlantic region.

Books for America is a nonprofit organization based in Washington, D.C.  In addition to accepting donations of books, it collects cell phones, DVDs and CDs, vintage magazines and comic books, and other items that can be auctioned to fund the program.  For more information, visit www.booksforamerica.org
