Announcing the Groundbreaking of a D.C. Historic Landmark Redevelopment, 699 Fourteenth Street, NW
February 21, 2019: Washington, D.C.– Lincoln Property Company, a leading full-service real estate services provider in the U.S., along with Pearlmark Real Estate has broken ground on 699 Fourteenth, a redevelopment of one of D.C.’s historic landmarks, the National Bank of Washington, located at 699 14th Street, NW. When completed, 699 Fourteenth will offer 157,000 SF of trophy commercial space which encompasses a full redevelopment of the bank building structure, a new office tower of 11 stories, and three rooftop terraces, and as up to 25,000 SF of retail space.
The trophy redevelopment will include restoring the existing historic bank building, located directly on the corner of 14th and G Streets, NW, and connecting it with a new, 11-story office tower along G Street, NW. Much of the bank building is being historically preserved to keep the unique Neoclassical architectural style designed by the prominent, early twentieth-century architect, Alfred C. Bossom. Original features that will be preserved include large arched windows, elaborate polychrome coffered ceiling, chandeliers and two massive vaults. The building was last occupied by the National Bank of Washington and vacated in 1990.
After sitting unoccupied for 28 years, the project is anticipated to open its doors to trophy office and retail space, a restaurant, and an iconic signage opportunity rarely available in Washington. D.C. Shalom Baranes Associates has led the architectural design of the two adjoining buildings.

The private ground-breaking ceremony was held on February 19, 2019.
The project is scheduled to be completed by 3Q 2020.
