Energy Star

ENERGY STAR (www.energystar.gov) is a joint program of the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency and the U.S. Department of Energy that has become the nationally recognized and accepted measure for energy efficiency for commercial buildings.

Energy performance of commercial buildings is scored on a scale from 1-100, which corresponds to the percentile.  A building that scores a 75 or greater qualifies for the ENERGY STAR label.  According to the ENERGY STAR, facilities that have earned the ENERGY STAR label use an average of 35% less energy than typical office buildings.
